When an animal's loyalty and love puts us to shame

Taken from doggiesite:

Yes, animals are more deluded because of their capacity of their physical body, but occasionally some of them might be able show us the love that we have forgotten on our 'busy road'. Just like this story.

This is real touching…

"Hey, wake up! wake up!"

A dog was knocked down by a car and died on the middle of the road. Later, another dog is seen beside the corpse of the dog, he tried to wake his friend up using his leg.

"Let's move to the safer side of the road...i will move you to the safer side!"

When his attempts to wake his friend failed, he tried to push his friend to the side of the road. But the weight of his friend was proven too heavy for him.

"Anyone help, tell me what to do."

Though the traffic is busy and dangerous, he just will not go away from his friend. Just stand beside his friend howling and crying.

A lot of people saw this incident and feel very touched. How even a dog can show his loyalty and love to his friend.

Cried when I read this... The surviving dog must be feeling very lonely and sad.... really pray that god will give this dog a good home.

Singapore bourse again hit by technical problems

05-09-2007 10:36:19

SINGAPORE, Sept 5 (Reuters) - Singapore's stock market suffered its second technical glitch in less than month on Wednesday when the reading of its blue-chip Straits Times Index <.STI> did not accurately reflect actual moves in share prices.

The latest problems at Singapore Exchange , Asia's third-largest bourse, come after Singapore traders had reported technical problems such as delays in prices and trade executions on Aug. 17, a day of particularly heavy trading and share price volatility. "The STI Index computation may not reflect fully the movement in its components. Market participants are advised not to rely on the figure until further notice," the exchange operator said in a statement. "Market makers for structured warrants on STI Index may not be quoting prices on those issues," it added.

Dealers had noted the disparity between gains in index heavyweights such as SingTel , Singapore's biggest listed firm, and the index gain of less than half a percent after market open on Wednesday at 9 a.m. (0100 GMT). Bank stocks, which carry a weighting of 30 percent in the index, were also higher with DBS Group Holdings up 2.5 percent, United Overseas Bank 1.5 percent stronger, and OCBC 1.2 percent higher. "The STI should be up much more than that -- the banks are up so much," a trader at a local stock broker said. SGX in February halted its derivatives trading system for several hours after it encountered technical problems. Since then there have been a few other incidents. In March, traders had problems accessing its ageing Singapore Exchange Securities Order Processing System, or Sesops.

Both of you came into my life unexpectedly and now left me suddenly.....

Jie Jie -

Miss ya smile whenever I come
Miss ya notti little grin when you grab food from my hands
Miss ya always trying to jump at me

You were always ready to put down your food to receive hugs from me. You were always following me around to ensure my safety. Whenever I leave, you will never fail to walk me to my car and wave me goodbye.

Now, I regret if I had not hugged you enough in our last meeting. Was I chiding you for always jumping at me and dirtying my clothes or was I giving you the pat you always loved. If time would turn for me, I'll let you jump on me as much as you would like. I would love to see my clothes all muddy again....

Mei Mei -
Miss ya yelping when the rest bully you
Miss ya tiny little body seeking pats from me
Miss ya happiness and tail wagging while you chew away at your bones

I remembered very well the day I ran across the road to your lying form after you were knocked down. How I almost burst out in tears seeing you still alive. How you finally recovered and continued to lead your carefree life. For those short months, I didn't expect you to go in another way......

I really wish both your last moments were fast and painless... I am angry with myself for not giving you both more in your time on earth.

To whoever who caused their death, I hope you are able to sleep well every night. You have caused those who loved them anguish and heart pain.

Jie and Mei left behind (their dog mates) - Mama, Mr Bobby, little Blackie, Baby and Audrey.

Thank you for your short lives on earth..... I miss ya

A cruel twist?

Having a dog integrated into the family has somehow made us more compassionate. Yesterday morning, before I drove off to pick my mom, I was greeted with the sight of a lady worriedly craddling a kitten. And I realised something was very wrong with the kitty cat when it was put down. It's rear legs were in a very awkward position and were bent almost 180 degree in the opposite direction at the ankle spot.

Being in a rush, the most I could offer to the lady in that moment was the time the nearest vet closes. With a heart still heavy, I told mom what happened and to my surprise she agreed that we could send the lady to Dr Bryan's. By the time we reached our void deck, someone has already taken the lady to her destination. Mom surprised me further by suggesting heading to the vet as well - She simply dislike cats for your information.

At the doc's, mom even paid half of the veterinarian fees. Something that I never dreamt she will do for a cat, what more a stray one. We named the cat Lucky.

It was then later that I received an sms that my friend lost his dog and he needed help disseminating information. For the entire day, he combed his entire area but was met with no results. Being a dog owner myself, I can well understand how painfully saddening it is. I offered to help him post a lost dog notice in forums when I saw a thread "Shih Tzu knocked down". The immediate association of his lost dog to that of the one knocked got me scared instantly. It had died on its way to the vet....

Right now, we are waiting confirmation by the vet... 2 more hours till the vet opens his doors. These 2 hours are right now the most excruciating wait for him and his family....

It seems alittle uncanny right now that we named the kitty Lucky only to find out that my friend's dog is called Lucky too...

Please help if you have seen Lucky:

Color : Tri color (Black/Brown/White)
Sex: Male
Other features: A pretty long tongue.

Music Forest Class

Yeah, a wrap up of our first class at Music Forest. Despite so many different singing schools this ah nia go to in the past, I started right from the basics again at Ocean Butterflies Music School. I must say Nicole is one of the best vocal teachers I have ever had. =)

However, it seems like I'm reaching a bottleneck in my vocal techniques. Can't seem to go beyond my current level. Blah.

Random pictures during the last lesson (ie. our exams day):

I do look "scared" enough ya? Maybe the Music Forest cum J-team can consider my services.

大家使出浑身解数. The secret weapon to beautiful vocals - Hair spray???!!!

Nicole and avril showing you the hide pimple technique.

A victory sign to mark the end of our exams.

After all that serious work, we could finally relax.

Our cute class trying to emulate Stephanie Sun's 神奇?

Mongrels for adoption

Many people find it easy to buy or bring home a dog, but they fail to remember that it is a life long thing. Be it cat or dog, many treat them as pets and seldom as companions. I'm pretty against sales of dogs right now but that will come in another post. Right now, it's on adoption.

Please do not take the word Adoption lightly......

Are they really ugly as many perceive? Are people taking their loyalty for granted?
Can anyone give this mutt a shelter under his head?
He only knows one thing: To love his humans unconditionally.
Will you still love them when they outgrow their puppy stage?

Am right now appealing for dog lovers, who are willing to give these mongrels a home to call their own. These are 4 month old pups found at a construction site. Everyday without fail, an old man will be going his rounds feeding strays in the area for years. Apart from feeding, he has been trying to vacinate and sterilise strays as much as he could. If any of them got injured in accidents, he will fork the vet fees. Till date, he has already spent a vast retirement sum just to do so. I salute him! He is the voice and light for these strays.

If you are in the midst of buying or seeking a pet companion, do consider adopting one of them. They are really manja and fiercely loyal once they know you well. But do note that only serious adopters are considered. Unethical breeders or sellers can GET LOST!!! There may be a small adoption fee (only vet fees for those who have been vaccinated or sterlised to the old uncle) and agreement drawn up to protect the welfare of these strays to be homed. Please note that the adoption fee will come with a vet's receipt. Right now, I believe they aren't vaccinated yet. Contact me for more information on adoption procedures and agreement terms.
To you, he is just a dog, but to him you are EVERYTHING!!

An exerpt taken from a petshop:
1) Before u bring me home, please remember i have a lifespan of 10-15 years, if u were to abandon me, that will be my worst agony.
2) Pls be patient with me, you have to give yourself some time to understand me.
3) Trust me - that is very important to me.
4) Pls do not get angry with me for too long, and pls dont lock me up as a punishment. You have ur job, ur entertainment, ur friends, but i only have u.
5) Pls talk to me often, even though i may not understand, but i can feel, your voice is keeping me accompany.
6) I will always remember in my heart how u've treated me.
7) When u hit me, pls remember, i have canine teeths that can crush ur bones, but i choose not to do that.
8 ) Before u scold me of being stubborn, not being co-operative, lazy, can u pls think is it something that is bothering me, maybe its bcos i cant get things which i wanted, maybe its bcos i have not been out in the sun for long period, or maybe its bcos im weak and old.
9) Pls take good care of me when im old, bcos u will grow old too.
10) if i were to go through difficult period like old, sickness and dealth, pls do not say " i cant bear to look, i dont want to stay at the scene". only when u are together with me, everything is easier to accept, pls remember forever, i love you

Just last Sunday, (clears throat) the 江南四大美女 decided that they should head out to pray at Bugis's Guan Yin Temple. Apparently, all must have felt they had sinned too much to render such a move (hiak hiak hiak). Finally, I had the honour of being chauffeured by Cherrie for a change!

Anyway, it was a all gals' outing so naturally there was alot to catch up after that.
For lunch, we opted for a cheap alternative than our usual fare of restaurant meal - KFC. Cherrie loved the miso chicken we all had but I still prefer the taste of the original though. AND hor!!!! I hate the lingering smell of weird miso on my fingers for the rest of the day! Buay tahan!

Talking over lunch was of course not enough. We had to find a coffee place to continue our never-ending chit chatty. We were looking forward to enjoying our afternoon sip when it was tainted by a small issue that came up. Very politely, one of our 四大美女 Susan requested if we could garner a cosy corner which we saw was empty. The receiving waiter 敢敢 tell us NO wor...! Reason being that the table is meant for groups of 6 people and above. Not that we mind, but we were perplexed since the table given to us apparently sits more than 8 lor... When queried, the waiter insisted that our table is definitely smaller than the one we requested. *faintz* What really kinda turn me off was that he mentioned if he were to allocate that table to us and another bigger group comes in, he may have to ask us to shift our ass somewhere else to accomodate!!!????

WHAT~!!!!!! (I remembered my eyes bulked really big when he said so)

Anyway, being very kind and not wanting to challenge him, we decided to make do with the not so comfy and open corner. The fact that the waiter tried to entertain and be nice afterwards helped. But but... The ah nia here still a little buay song why can't customers' requests be acceded. How can it be that a company has a policy to ask customers to switch tables should a bigger group come along????

The most "Qi Gek" thing was that another waiter allowed a group of 2 to sit at our requested corner lor!!!!!!!! *Fume man!

Susan's face kena blocked! oppz...

A better one.

Cherrie and Me!

More of us

Apparently, the drink was the highlight for this picture.

Revenge for taking Susan's face being covered by a straw.

From an Ex-MLM's perspective

Recently, a friend who refused to admit she's doing MLM called me again.

Recollecting back:
I remembered the first time she invited me out for dinner at a super aber ulu location. Despite my suggestions to switch to a more convenient place, she insisted that the place has got superb pineapple rice. Blah! The first hint of her doing MLM came when she refused to divulge what her intention for dinner was when we are not even close friends. The second hint was the way she persisted to call me out after so many rejections due to my busy schedule.

Giving her the benefit of doubt, I acceded to her dinner request. It turned out that my suspicions were right afterall. Having done MLM myself personally, I would appreciate if people let me know beforehand. Afterall, I had shared with her what I did previously and how it helped to be forthright and straight forward. Too bad for her, I was so pissed with her evasiveness that I did not give her much time to say her piece. Most of the time, I was the one doing all the talk and educating her on unscrupulous MLM practises using my Ex-MLM status. Muahahahaha...

Principle 1: "Be forthright about doing MLM. People will appreciate that better than you trying to be evasive"

Anyway, she's now back with her turn-off tactics. Her excuse this time was that she needed some advice on SOMETHING. Kept insisting on meeting up when I said I have no time. If she needs advice, she could jolly well address it over the phone isn't it. But no, she insisted that she needs to show me in person. *HUH??!*
Finally after wasting alot of time calling and sms-ing, she asked me to support her by buying her products.

So you finally decided to drive home your point ah!

If she have had been direct in the very beginning about wanting to sell me her products, I would have very much considered at least.

Principle 2: "Want to sell, sell. Cut the crap about pretending to need some favours from the person then slowly lead to selling"

Despite being nice and letting her know that I wasn't interested in her products, she relentlessly tries to call and text me everyday to convince me her products are good. Till date, I have already lost count of the numbers, but the calls come at least 3-5 times daily.

An extract from the most recent exchange (when I'm alr super pissed):

Girl, I really really hope you to get a bit of support. Maybe a pair of XXX or a set of XXX. Confirm beneficial even if not old people. blah blah blah....

Look gal, I would definitely support you if they are something that fits my needs. It makes no sense to be buying and not using. I hope I wouldn't need to iterate again. Appreciate you asking but no thanks.

=) okay. That's why I said you can buy XXX ma.

Let me not iterate again. I would be interested if it's something I need.

What you need you think?

Me (secretly in mind):
I need you to stop hounding me like I'm the last piece of meat left on earth!!

Principle 3: "Find people who buys you and needs your products"

Principle 4: "Never never give people the impression that you are desperate to close sales with them. People will not buy you!"

Sighz... I dun understand why some people just dun understand. Aren't I clear enough?? The traditional unscrupulous methods of selling and roping new distributors are no long in trend. These methods have given MLM a foul reputation and a bad taste in the mouth for people who were conned into it!
Believe me, I still subscribe to the MLM-concept, but please dun try evasive methods on me.

Principle 5: "Rather than waste time trying to convince someone closed up, concentrate on finding people who are open"

Doggies Saviour needed

Taken from projectjk

As we continue in our day-to-day 'operations' in animal welfare, we have only been blessed to build more, if not stronger, relations with the disparate caregivers, fosterers, boarders and strayfeeders all over the island, and learn from our interactions with them, samaritans in their very own right, how important a cohesive network of animal activists, supporters and volunteers, driven by the same motivations, the same passions to achieve the same objectives, is.

To improve the lives of the animals -- street, footloose, industrial, agricultural, domestic or whatever else.

In a context where we lack a macro form of support such as that from national animal welfare organisation or, quite simply, the government, our 'silent' caregivers hinge upon mutual support to make a difference to the lives of, especially, our stray animals; to make sure, in their very best, that our animals are granted some form of decency -- water to drink, food for nourishment, medication for the injured -- in places where most public would not take a second glance at or consider, even for a fraction of a moment, WHO are those who rely on the wilderness, the bushes, the space beneath some random truck to sleep and claim space for their own abode.

Today, we received a call from an existing strayfeeder who'll be away from Singapore for one year, who seeks another (reliable, confident) caregiver who can take his place, for this one year, and one who is confident of this role, committed and consistent in this potential work.

Here are the details:

To feed about 12 stray dogs at a spot in Sembawang every morning consistently for one year, from mid-May 2007 to mid-May 2008. Feeding materials include meshed kibbles, canfood and rice, and water which will be rendered in small pails. Feeding materials will be supplied time to time by this existing strayfeeder, or, into the time that he will be absent, by his friend.

Existing strayfeeder will remain contactable. Replacing strayfeeder will be able to contact his friend, in times of emergency.

From now until his departure, he will orientate replacing strayfeeder and guide him/her along with the job. Work estimated to be half to one hour each morning. Strayfeeder expected to clear newspapers or surrounding litter, to ensure responsible feeding.

The 12 dogs are made up of two to three independent packs, mostly adult dogs. Dogs are of the wary sort but with a proper handover/orientation, it will be fine.

All we need now is someone who is able to commit to the time in feeding, the effort in the food preparation, and someone equipped with his/her own transport. Someone willing to take two hours of his/her time everyday, for this very worthy cause.

A guaranteed salary will be provided.

If you know of anyone who might be keen to take on this 'challenge', a challenge that will perhaps open one's life to wider, unique experiences of animal welfare work, kindly contact: or 9026-2733. More details will be provided.

In sleep he sang to me, In dreams he came.
That voice which calls to me and speaks my name.
And do I dream again, for now I find...
The phantom of the opera is there inside my mind.

Sing once again with me, my strange duet.
My power over you, grows stronger yet.
And though you turned from me, to glance behind.
The phantom of the opera is here, inside your mind.

In any case you find anything wrong with the lyrics from phantom, you may be right. Cos the ah nia here is trying to flaunt her *good memory.

Bro treated me to phantom of the opera weeks ago. Was not too bad aside from some flats coming from Christine and a bad start to the program. Was quite surprised that I could still remember most of the lyrics from all songs. I swear there were small snipets where they changed the lyrics. Nothing dramatic though.

Loved the phantom actor, he was the one that truly engaged us right from the start. Me and bro both agreed that he was the best singer in the house.

As for the bad start, I must first complain that either the theatre wasn't designed properly or people ain't being aware of their surrondings. You see, me and bro got the second row of the upper deck and we noticed that the group of people infront of us were all trying to lean forward on the rails. The irritating part was that whenever they do so, we get our views block. So everyone from the back all started to follow suit. It can be pretty back breaking to be leaning forward for prolong periods not to mention the left right head adjustments according to the front people. That kinda killed the first half of the viewing pleasure for me.

Until bro pointed out to them that they were causing alot of inconvenience to the back people, did the front row people (only those infront of us actually) sat proper. They did so not without first rolling their eyes and one gal was nonchalently saying how short she was. Eh.... EXCUSE ME, she should thank us cos we made her aware of how ignorant and selfish her behaviour was.
Some people simply needs some lessons on courtesy. Even this ah nia knows when to be apologetic for such inconveniences lor. Geez....

And we were wondering why the rest did not speak up. So they all ended up leaning forward all the way. Just as I thought me and my bro were the only ones who made such a fuss, Adrian too complained that he was caught in the exact situation while he went phantoming the day after us. See... We ain't trying to be horrible ya know.

The affair

An invitation to Power 98's Ladies Affair. Erm... not exactly a totally ladies event as we see some men with their womenfolk and the DJs from power 98 and 88.3 as well.
Erm.. Apparently Jia Yi was talking to me and Phyllis face on and we din realise till a while later. Wah liew... Paiseh la. To think I hear him on the radio pretty much. Din expect him to look young and cute ma

Despite the rain and all that, concentration was all drawn to the big race course. Am glad we were sitting in our air-conditioned comfort.
Ladies start forsaking their buffet tables to join the atmosphere outside.
Was helping myself to quite alot of the baked oysters. Yum~~

And red wine! It is certainly great not to be driving on occasions like this.
You can see we cannot hold back our excitement. Giving a victorious smile after winning one of the bets!

More concentration on the main screen from our box.
And the lovely gurls who invited the ah nia here. Thanks a whole bunch. Was really fun!

Since it was all our first time at horse betting, we had our share of wins and loses. However, we do looked like we were seasoned punters judging by the way we bury our noses into the racing guide books. lolz!

Your life or money?

Feng starts pondering....
"Does one constantly hope of striking rich?"
"What's the meaning of life?"
"How does one ever feel contented and are there truly people who are?"
"How happy can one ever be? when is happy the happiest?"
"blah blah blah blah?"

And the train of thoughts go on and on. Notice my inconsistent thoughts, that's cos I'm a visual person.

Someone once told me straight in my face, MONEY = YOUR LIFE.
Sounds darn superficial right.
Whatever so, what my friend said is not without some sense.

In order to lead a comfortable life, you have to be rich or at least financially stable.
Firstly, the majority of the people are not born rich. So in their conquest to become so, they work hard. That, they have already spent at least 9hrs of their 24hrs. But they realise that working hard alone is not enough, so they work extra hard by getting OT payouts (that's if they can claim hor). After slogging so hard for perhaps a few 3hrs, they finally get what they deem a good but not too good income. Simple maths will indicate that they have spent 12hrs at work.

Say they have to skim on their sleep to maximise their time usage, they sleep barely 6 hrs.
That leaves one with only 6 hours a day to enjoy your quality life hor.

You may think that that the mere 6 hours is good enough for quality stuff. In life, sometimes quality time can only come about with quantity.

Lets break it down in a different way (say a 5.5 workday):

Amt of time one has on weekdays = 6 x 5 = 30hrs
Amt of time one has on Saturday = 24 - 6 (halfday work) - 10 (one tries to make up for sleep) - 4 (housework) = 4 hrs
Amt of time one has on Sunday = 24 - 10 = 14hrs

Total time allocated for weekly quality spending = 30 + 4 + 14 = 48hrs
That's like 2 days out of 7.

I wonder how good is 2 days to communicate and accompany your spouse and children, do housework maybe and importantly reserve some personal time for yourself. And do take note that by the time one reaches home everyday, it may be well pass the kids' bedtimes. How about your pets (Cos the ah nia here has one herself)?

Isn't it quite sad to think that many are trading their life for money?
I am that one kind of trader!!

I want to strike TOTO! Ho ho ho

I am typical kiasu Singaporean! I want more than 2 days per week for my own quality spending!

"Lalala ni xiang yao shi jian...."

Been crazing over this song almost everyday. NICE!
I love Mayday!!! 崇拜死了.
Can I even meet them in person one day! *Dreamz~~!*

Hit by the brunt of Reality

Suddenly I find myself waking up from my dreams...
With some hefty credit card bills coming up real soon, the slap from my income tax is even more effective than coffee.

With the usual ignorance, I started out filling happily and unexpectingly till Cherrie broke down the rates chargeable to the ah nia here. I almost fainted.

Once again, verification with the MOF website serves to further jolt me out of my slumber mode.

Am still trying to work out the effectiveness of this payment system.
Now I'm still trying to catch my breath digesting the amount payable soon...
I understand why people take instalments to pay their taxes now.

Someone tries to be batman or wat?

It took us barely 8 minutes from KJE to reach NTU. And guess what, we look almost 50 minutes from mandai to KJE. Amazing isn't it, considering how much shorter the latter journey is.

But wait till you see the cause of the delay....

From far, sis and I could already pin-point the location of the accident.
By far, the first SG "bat mobile" ...

Wah liew... how did the white car land above the other?
1) The black car(below) went too fast and lifted the boot of the white one.
The white car infront e-braked too hard and part lifting its back. In that same instance the black mazda and taxi couldn't stop in time and henceforth rammed the white one while lifting it?

2) The black car e-braked while the white one coming from the back couldn't stop in time?
But rationally, shouldn't the back winscreen of the black car be smashed in the process?

Maybe option 1 seems more viable then?

Mad sense of Pride

The picture tells it all. A big happy family portrait like this is the reason why you feel like smiling =)!

Crash course on genes and human make ups

It's always good to have a sibling doing bio science then going on to do something close to my heart - TCM. We can always have interesting discussions on our way to school.

Lets see how much I have picked up today.

1. We are made up of tons of dna
This one you can't not know.

2. These strings of dna coils around and bind genes together to make a chromosome.

3. X-Y gene = boy, X-X gene = gal
x-genes (or maybe all genes in general) has a recessive effect.

if (daugther) {

if (either parents carrier of defective x-gene)
Daugther is safe, but a carrier

else if (both parents carrier of same defective x-gene)
Daugther jia lat, full blown disease or perhaps wouldn't have even survived.

else { //then must be a boy la!

if (mom carrier of defective x-gene)
son kena disease straight

else if (dad carrier of defective x-gene)
son still safe and not a carrier

Doesn't that kinda suggest that if you are a guy, the chances of you having a full blown x-gene related disease is much higher since the only source of carrier would be his mother?

4. Enzymes are part of a protein (They are proteins)

5. ALD is caused by x-gene defect
If you read Tues with Morries you'll know wat's ALD
Some kinda disease where you body starts losing its functions and organs fail.

6.Same gene defect = same disease

7. Same chromosome defect may yield different diseases

8. .... Forget what else

Whatever that is mentioned in the points above are solely what I perceived from conversing with my sibling, so pardon me if there are mistakes!

Only managed to see this student's laptop zipper sway back and forth. They even claimed their chairs moved lor...

How come I'm so insensitive huh?

Good luck 20 years!

Some famous fortune teller that predicted very accurately for a major drink company projected that Singapore will have very good fortune for the next 20 years from 2007 onwards, especially the first 10 years. Kinda wonder if this guy uses zi wei dou shu since zi wei states that luck cycle changes every decade. He based his calculations from Singapore's independence date.

Lets just pretend that his prediction is gonna be so right ya!

This is a First

To learn that wearing sunshades aids visibility while driving in a huge downpour.
Studies mentioned that rain droplets tend to reflect light and hence disrupt vision.
Will prepare one in the car!

I wonder would that help if it was dark and rainy?

And if you think it's all work...

Then you are wrong! Hiak hiak hiak.

Our latest inclusion to our office collection!

Do I need to say anymore?? Bought under approval. If you think the steering wheel looks amateurish... It turns more than 360 degrees lor! How kick ass is that, a total emulation of the actual thing.

Maybe we could ask if we implement the 20 minute power nap next time! =P
As I type, drift and braking sounds are blasting away!
